Books of the Day:
Songs and Actions of the Day:
Tune: This Old Man
Welcome to our storytime,
with lots of books
And fun for me and you
We will sing and dance too!
After we sing this for a verse we add other actions to the song (…clap your hands for storytime, clap your hands for storytime…) I end with …shhh be quiet for storytime…
Recorded Song with Scarves: Love is An Open Door (Frozen)
Because what kid doesn’t love Frozen? Not one.
Recorded Song: Laurie Berkner’s These Are My Glasses
The kids latch on to this song and its movements (i.e. they love it! :))
Ukulele Song: You are My Sunshine
Ukulele Song: If You’re Happy and You Know It
Kids just love this song. They get into it, so I’m keeping it on this week’s storytime. I will end with: “If you love storytime and you know it shout, “I love it!””
Instead of using an app this week we are going to watch a 5 Little Hearts YouTube video. It’s cute and simple.
Letter of the Day: L
For love! We will talk about things the kids love, because that could lead to some really fun comments and conversation.
Literacy Tip of the Day: Talk!
Talk to your children about the theme of the day (love!) There are some really adorable videos on YouTube asking kids about what love means to them. They show asking kids simple questions can lead to really meaningful conversations.
Craft of the Day: Heart Chain
Each child is going to decorate a section of a heart chain. I am going to display them up in the children’s area of my library with some sort of message like, “All our hearts are different in our own lovely way.” Something that encourages kids to be kind to one another and also appreciate their own differences.
